COVID19 and Chewton Pool

At Chewton Pool we’re working hard to ensure the health and safety of all who visit our pool is our number one priority. To ensure our pool is COVID-Safe and operates in line with the government’s current health advice, we are applying the following safety measures.

Before you come to the pool:

  • Make sure that everyone in your group is well and exhibiting no symptoms of COVID 19. People must not attend if they are awaiting the results of a COVID test, or if they have been asked to quarantine by authorities.

  • Download the Services Victoria QR code app. The pool has registered with Services Victoria because it is a direct link to contact tracing systems in Victoria. If an outbreak was to occur, it gives the most reliable and accurate record of attendees and contact tracing can occur without delay. This app has the highest levels of governance and privacy protection and only requires your first name and phone number. All check in records will be deleted after 28 days.

  • Bring any equipment and toys to use in the pool. They should not be shared with others. The pool is not permitted to provide equipment for use by patrons this season.

  • Bring your own water bottle. It can be refilled at the kiosk, but we are not able to provide cups this season.

When you arrive at the pool:

  • Please line up outside the gate leaving a distance of 1.5 metres between your group and other families. It may take a couple of minutes to move people into the pool this season.

  • Patrons should sanitise their hands when they arrive at the pool.

  • Scan the QR code when you arrive. If you do not have the app, you will be directed to the website where you can enter your first name and phone number. Some people do not own a phone, so we will have a back up paper sign in record. It is preferred that people scan if possible because the paper record does not provide an immediate response should a case of COVID be detected in a pool patron.

  • Show your vaccination status. The Chewton Pool is mandated to check the vaccination status of every patron over the age of 12. When you sign in, please show your certificate to the kiosk person on duty. Those who do not have a smart phone will need to show a printed proof of vaccination.

Using the facility:

  • Social distancing of 1.5m between people should be maintained.

  • People should not congregate in large groups.

  • We recommend masks be worn in the toilets/change rooms as this is an enclosed space where distancing is difficult. We are limited to THREE people in the toilets/change rooms at one time. This number includes children. Please queue outside to wait for your turn, allowing space for others to exit.

  • Please wash your hands thoroughly after using the toilets with the soap provided.

  • Please queue and maintain a distance of 1.5 metres at the kiosk.

Government Update: Swimming Lessons

As of Friday November 26th 2021, the Victorian State Government has issued changed instructions for children under the age of ten attending swimming lessons. It has been determined that a parent or guardian who are unvaccinated may attend the pool to supervise their child for the duration of their lesson. This is in line with the pool’s supervision policy. The unvaccinated parent must not use the pool, they must arrive just before the lesson and leave directly after the lesson. In order to facilitate this, the following will apply:

  • When people arrive for lessons the kiosk volunteer must ask if they are just attending for the duration of the lesson. If the answer is yes, the patron does not need to show their vaccination certificate.

  • If the patron intends to stay longer, they must show their vaccination certificate in the normal manner.
